About Me

About rick GLENN

I was born in Yakima and raised in the Lower Yakima Valley. My parents homesteaded on the Roza Irrigation Project in 1951. I cut asparagus, milked cows, and graduated from Sunnyside High School.
I spent 2 years as a missionary in Chile, learning Spanish and the culture of South America. I attended Brigham Young University and graduated in Building Construction Technology.
My wife, Lisa, teaches first grade at Barge Elementary School. We have been married for 43 years and Yakima has been our home since we were married. Our 5 children graduated from Eisenhower High School. We have 15 grandchildren. Along the way I was involved with baseball, track, cross country, football, and soccer. I still volunteer in Track and cross country. I helped with the recent state track meet at Zaepfal Stadium.
During my career I have worked in agriculture, retail furniture sales, mortgage lending, commercial banking, and property management. One of my passions is helping homeless people get into homes. I work with low income people every day. I am involved with homeless people every day. This experience gives me a unique perspective that is not present in our current council.
I have always voted and for most of my life I believed that voting for good people and letting them govern was all that was necessary. The COVID crisis forced a change in that philosophy. I have been actively involved in the last 2 legislative Sessions in Olympia. I currently serve as President of the Yakima Valley Landlord’s Association.
The homeless problem, the housing shortage, the crime problem, and the exploding cost of government are affecting all the citizens of Yakima, especially those with limited financial resources. I want to help solve those problems.
